Breathing Loop
The axial flow scrubber canister design provides simple and quick replacement of the CO2 absorbent and allows easy access to the three oxygen sensors and battery housing. The convoluted large diameter breathing hoses include adjustable hose weights and can be trimmed in length by the diver to suit their personal preference. The loop design includes built-in water traps in both the exhalation counterlung and the scrubber canister. The counterlungs are over-the-shoulder design, with an inhalation and exhalation side. The exhalation side includes an OPV valve, along with a push button manual addition valve for oxygen. The inhalation side includes a push button manual addition valve for diluent. Also included as standard in our package is the Auto Diluent Valve (ADV) which automatically adds diluent into the breathing loop during descent as the gas in the loop compresses. The ADV regulator is an upstream design and therefore requires no adjustment.

Vision Electronics Package
The Vision electronics offers excellent clarity in its communication of information to the diver. The display may be worn on the wrist or clipped-off and has crystal-clear adjustable contrast LCD screen with easy-read numbers, graphics and written text. Our package includes the upgrade to support nitrox decompression and a trimix decompression option is available. The information displayed includes: The status of the oxygen controller and which one is controlling the ppO2 and solenoid, the setpoint, scrubber status, the status of both batteries and which one is providing the power for the solenoid and wrist display, and the ppO2 from all three oxygen cells in real time. Underwater the dive time and depth are shown along with maximum depth. Other features include:
|
- Dual Oxygen Controllers -- Each controller has it's own independent and intelligent power supply. APD CCR's are the only rebreathers with two independent controllers each capable of controlling the oxygen solenoid. The controllers are responsible for maintaining the chosen PO2 set-point by firing the oxygen injection solenoid using voting logic with the three oxygen sensors.
- Heads Up Display - Two indications for each controller: two pairs of LED's, green on the bottom, red on the top. Solid green indicates all is well, flashing LED's or solid red indicate various types of alerts or events. The brightness of the LED's can be changed at any time.
- Audible Alarm - A buzzer provides a distinct sound to to alert the diver to review an important change in status being displayed on the handset. Non-critical alarms can be temporarily supressed by the diver.
- CO2 Scrubber Life Monitor - shows you real-time that CO2 absorption is occurring in the scrubber. The Scrubber Life Monitor performs reliably and consistently regardless of depth or water temperature, during ascents and descents, giving warnings at appropriate times on the HUDs and buzzer.
- Full Nitrox/Trimix Support - The dive computer supports any breathing mixture of Nitrogen, Oxygen, and optionally Helium. As many as six different gas mixes can b

- mixes can be defined by the diver and selected as diluent or open circuit gases at any time during a dive.
- Decompression information - Based on the real-time PO2 in the breathing circuit and real-time depth, using the Bühlmann ZHL16A-1b algorithm with user programmable gradient factor values. The display shows No Stop Time, which reverts to Total Time to Surface (TTS) and ceiling depth once the diver requires decompression stops.
- Real-time Data Log - PC downloadable information includes up to 9 hours of the most recent data recorded in 10 second intervals. Data recorded includes depth/time dive profile, PO2 from all 3 cells, set points, scrubber probe temperatures, any cell errors or warnings and surface interval, decompression, ambient temperature, battery voltages, and oxygen exposures (CNS, OTUs).
- Imperial or Metric Units of Measure - The computer can be set to display depths in either feet or meters of sea water

Regulators, SPGs and Hoses
The Inspiration/Evolution rebreathers use APD's own first stage regulators designed and tuned for their rebreathers. The Oxygen regulator has an over pressure valve installed in a low pressure port, the diluent regulator relies on the Auto-Air second stage for over pressure relief. Each regulator has a 1.5-inch submersible pressure gauge reading in PSI (optionally available in BAR) and the Oxygen SPG has a color coded green boot. The oxygen regulator supplies a manual addition valve and the oxygen injection solenoid. The diluent regulator supplies multi-port manifold block to simplify hose routing. The diluent manifold block supplies a manual addition valve, ADV, and the Auto-Air BC integrated second stage. Most of the hose fittings are screw-on type. The screw-on fittings are proven more reliable than common crimped on fittings and they make for very easy customizing and repairs. Simply unscrew the hose ends, cut the hose shorter or replace it and screw the fittings back on again. You can do this with two ordinary adjustable wrenches, even in the remotest parts of the world.
Harness and Wing
The APD harness and Wing are specifically tailored to provide an ideal mate with your rebreather and are included in the price. The APD rebreather harness is available in your choice of four sizes, along with the 35lb /16kg wing. The harness holds the rebreather securely on you, includes fastenings to keep hose routing tidy, an integrated weight system holding up to 12lbs/6 per side, and has plenty of D-Rings for attaching side tanks and accessories. The Inspiration model can also accept a larger 50lb/23kgm wing. Both sizes have weight trim pockets high up to ensure a perfect swimming position and D-rings at the sides which when used with the optional Verti-clips allow easy one handed attachment of side slung tanks.
Cylinders
Faber 3ltr steel 232 bar cylinders.
Physical CharacteristicsThe hi-impact ABS plastic case body and hard-shell cover holds all the components securely in place and is streamlined to fit body contours with maxium protection. The durable cover is bright yellow color (optional black available) to improve visibility in low light or silty conditions. Quick-release fasteners allow for easy access to both the scrubber canister and gas supply cylinders. Our standard package includes the sturdy and low weight carry case.
Starter Pack
Included in our package with every rebreather is a Starter Pack. The Starter Pack includes a hardcopy CCR manual, AutoAir Manual, BC Manual, Software CD, Bridge PC Link interface and cables. The pack includes three sizes of HUD clips, IP Gauge, two batteries, crotch strap, oxygen sensor connector, and alternative handset strap. We also include a 'bubble chaser' o-ring kit with a dozen of the most commonly needed o-rings, a spare scrim, free disinfectant samples and a spray bottle. There's a nice small dry box

Sizing the Counterlungs and Harness
Two sizes of APD counterlungs are available: Medium and Large. Both counterlungs have sufficient breathing volume and selection is more a matter of the torso height. To determine your torso height, when wearing pants with a belt and t-shirt, on a deep inhalation take a torso measurement from the belt at the front over your shoulder and down to the belt at the back. If the measurement is 45/116cm or less, in our experience divers always prefer the medium size counterlungs. If you are long in the torso (over 50/126cm have an unusually large chest, or wearing a very heavy drysuit with thick undergarments, you may prefer the large counterlungs.
The APD harness has a wide range of adjustability, but keep in mind the APD sizing (S,M,L,XL) assumes the diver is wearing a heavy drysuit and undergarments typical of the very cold water diving in the UK. In the US, the average sized male in a wetsuit or light drysuit will prefer a medium harness. Larger individuals or those wearing a heavy drysuit will prefer a large harness. If you are a professional football or hockey player, or just built like one, the XL size is right for you.
If you prefer, we can size the counterlungs and harness for you. In the special instructions section at checkout, please provide us with your height and weight, chest and waist measurements, along with the torso measurement described above.
